My Rants, Comments, and Thoughts

Obama’s Going to India

India 1Have you heard about this? I guess our President and First lady haven’t been on vacation now, for what, a couple of weeks, so right after the November 2nd defeats, the Obama’s are getting out of town.

According to India Today this info: “US President Barack Obama’s trip to India next month is set to be the biggest ever by any US president in terms of the protocol and logistics. Headlines Today has accessed the details of elaborate arrangements that will be in place to guard Obama during his three-day trip beginning on November 6.” “He will be accompanied by US First Lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia and Sasha. Earlier, Obama’s daughters Sasha and Malia were not to be part of the trip. But sources revealed that Michelle’s opinion prevailed and now the girls would accompany the first American couple to India.”

Still quoting “The presidential entourage will have 40 aircraft, including the Air Force One that will ferry the president. There will be six armoured cars, including the Barack Mobile, a Cadillac. The Cadillac limousine is equipped with a mini communication centre to enable Obama to be in touch with the White House, US vice president and the US strategic command. It also has the US nuke launch codes… ” etc.

You may not be aware the group has taken the entire Taj Mahal Hotel: 570 rooms. Forty aircraft. Just how many people is he taking? Five hundred seventy rooms just in one hotel?

And, of course, it should be pointed out that Obama will be taking his teleprompter. He’s going to make a speech at the Indian parliament where for the first time ever a teleprompter will be used. A teleprompter has never been used in the Indian parliament, and Obama is going to break that tradition.

Just imagine how many homeless people this trip would take care of? Guess we have to get another loan from China to pay the bill for this one.

Hope and Change

Americans for Limited Government has a fairly good video out that shows the unemployment and deficit for the past 7 years. Thought it was interesting.

Baseball

baseball errorWhen I’m not on my computer, I do a little channel surfing to catch up on the latest not so great things. In the past couple of days, I have noticed some baseball games on. I am with baseball games like I am with beauty pageants, I don’t watch them. Baseball might be the national pastime but it’s a total bore to me. Kind of in the same category as soccer.

Why, you might ask? Well, first of all, it bothers me to watch people earning millions of dollars a year, for working only a few months, who are successful in their work only 30% or less of the time. Somehow it doesn’t seem to justify the salary much less me wasting my time watching them make a living.Baseball player spitting

And what’s with all the spitting? Is that something they learn at baseball kindergarten and just can’t break the habit in adulthood? It is absolutely disgusting. I’m surprised you don’t see them pissing in the dugout as well.

Also, how about those umpires? Can’t they call the plays correctly? If not why don’t they use instant replay as in other sports. The networks already use Baseball umpireinstant replay to show the umpires errors – so why not use instant replay to get the plays called correctly to put some justice in the game? The home plate umpire, isn’t he something, the person in charge, is solely subjective in his calls and each home plate umpire seems to call the balls and strikes in a different strike zone. What kind of rule is that? We are in the age of technology. We can design computer software to call the balls and strikes correctly, don’t need a blind guy squatting behind the catcher’s head.

Well, all you baseball fans – too bad you feel the need and desire to waste your time and money watching these grown up children muck their way through the game. You have my sympathy if you have nothing more productive to do with your life.

Is Barney Frank On His Way Out?

Lord knows that the Congress, in my opinion, would be better off without Mr. Frank in a leadership position. If you look at the history of the past few years, it will become obvious that Mr. Frank is part of the problem and not part of the solution. I just ran across a political ad that sums it up pretty well. Mr. Frank doesn’t have a clue.

At least this year, there is a strong contender for his seat. I think it will be a close election for Mr. Frank.

Thanks for watching and as always, I’m interested in your views.

My How Time Flys

It’s been a while since I posted anything here but just to let you know I’m still around. I was on Holiday and then I had to fly from the Philippines to San Francisco to have a heart tune up and a little recovery time then back to the Philippines.

As I write this, we are still getting the tail end of a Super Typhoon that went through the Northern Philippines yesterday and today. Not much damage in our area but massive damage up north.

Election time is near and I’m interested to see how that turns out. Some of the Republican candidates could be better against the Incumbent Democrats, but it is what it is and the people voted their choices so just have to live with it as much as I would like to have had some different Republican candidates.

Will soon be posting more.
